Sheri Wenger

Sheri graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education - Social Studies from Millersville University in December 1983. Her teaching career began at Rosslyn Academy in Nairobi, Kenya where she taught middle school Social Studies from 1984 to 1986. In 1986 Sheri returned to the U.S. and started teaching Social Studies at Lancaster Mennonite High School. In May 1996 Sheri completed a Masters of Arts in American Studies at Penn State University. At Lancaster Mennonite High School Sheri teaches Modern U.S. History, Honors Sociology, and A.P. United States History with a dual enrollment with HACC. In addition she serves as the Instructional Area Leader for the LMHS Bible and Social Studies department. Being a teacher is a strong part of Sheri's identity; she loves being in the classroom. Sheri has served as a Reader for the College Board A.P. United States History essay exams since 2002. Sheri and her husband are actively involved in Pilgrims Mennonite Church, Akron, PA. In her spare time she enjoys photography and travel.

At EMU - Lancaster Sheri teaches the History of Women class which takes an historical and sociological approach to the changing role of women in the nation's history. Attention is given to the ways that race/ethnicity and socio-economic class shaped their experiences. The course focuses on the role of women's leadership in shaping U.S. national culture (political, economic, and social.)
