My cross cultural experience:

Fall Semester 2006 I spent on cross cultural in Switzerland and Italy and it was an experience that has shaped and will probably in many ways define my life. As a history major the trip could not have been more perfect, seeing things from Athens, to Rome, but also learning from my Anabaptist roots in Switzerland. The required cross cultural experience is part of what drew me to EMU and I also plan to take advantage of the Washington Community Scholars Program next spring for an internship, yet another of the awesome opprotunities offered by EMU.

My favorite reason to get off campus:

This usually tends to involve food, the favorites include Dave’s Taverna, Taste of Thai, Bravos, or Klines Ice Cream (for chocolate peanut butter or mint oreo). On the weekends my suitemates and I often like to go to Panera for dinner and a hot drink and hang out there for several hours doing homework (but often end up talking ;-))

I also enjoy going over to Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community to visit my “Adopted Grandparents” a couple I met through this program at EMU. I usually visit at least every other week and its a nice way to get away for a couple hours and spent time with people not your age and who are always happy to see you.
