Conference: “The Adolescent and the Family”
Seminary Building , 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Michael Kerr, M.D., and Kathy Kerr, M.S.N., M.A., a husband and wife team, will speak from their experience as parents and many years of professional work with families. Each has been a frequent speaker in conferences dedicated to understanding family processes and problems from their perspective of Bowen Family Systems Theory. Dr. Kerr is Director of the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family. For more information and registration, visit www.shenfamilysystems.org. Bonus: Dr. Kerr will present a free public lecture in Martin Chapel, Seminary building, on Thursday, Oct. 11, 7:30 p.m., “We know stress affects health, but what is stress?”

Featured speaker, Dr. Clair Schnupp, founder and director of Northern Youth Programs in Dryden, Thunder Bay and Kenora, Ontario. Dr. Schnupp, this year’s Distinguished Service Award recipient, will share from the years he and his wife Clara have worked and ministered among the First Nations peoples of northern Canada and Greenland.
Art exhibit:
Hartzler Library Gallery, open during library hours
EMU art professors, Barbara Fast, Cyndi Gusler, Jerry Holsopple, Lara Scott, and Steven Johnson will exhibit. Media will range from mixed media fiber art and drawing to photography and digital imaging. A gallery talk and reception will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

90 Years of Music at EMU: A Celebration of Song and Sound

Drawing on his 30 years as professor of music at EMU, Dr. Kenneth J. Nafziger will lead us through an evening of choral and instrumental performances, including audience participation. Admission is free. Donations accepted for the music department scholarship fund. (Program repeated at the same time Saturday evening.)

The program will begin at 8:45 a.m.
Dr. Ingida Asfaw, recipient of the 2007 Alumnus of the Year award, will be the featured speaker. Advance reservations required.
Session II: Mini Science Summit, 10 a.m.
Tours will be given by science faculty of the Suter Science Center (SSC) to show a view of eight learning centers in the SSC.
After the tours, there will be opportunity for discussion, questions and interaction on plans to renovate the science center.
Haverim breakfast and program
Seminary foyer, 8 a.m.
Keynote speaker will be Peter Dula ‘92, assistant professor of religion and culture for EMU’s Bible and religion department. Advance reservations required.
Business and economics breakfast and program
8 am, Discipleship Center.
The guest speaker is Zach Derstine ’01, of Derstine’s Food, Inc., a broadline foodservice distributor, in Sellersville, Pa. Advance reservations required.
Nurses’ breakfast and presentation
Campus Center 3rd floor, Lisa Haverstick Nursing Lab, 8 a.m.
Breakfast will be held in the classroom section of the lab. Following breakfast, the group will walk to the Science Center to take in the presentation by Dr. Ingida Asfaw beginning at 8:45. Nursing alumni may also wish to remain and take part in the “Mini Science Summit”, described above under Science Center Breakfast.

Jesse T. Byler Lecture Series

Ryan Sensenig ‘92, will present "Moving from environmental education to creation care: Case studies in transformative education." Ryan, a biology education graduate, will complete his Ph.D. in ecology from the University of California, Davis, this summer and begin teaching ecology at Goshen College this fall. The lecture is open to everyone.

A prayer labyrinth has been created by Kirk Shank Zehr ’92, on the hillside. Join the dedication and celebration.
Jubilee alumni reunion luncheon and program
Eastern Mennonite Seminary, Martin Chapel, 12 noon
This event is for alumni who attended EMU 50 years ago or more. The class of 1957 will be honored and inducted into the Jubilee Alumni Association. There will be designated tables for classes of 1957, 1952, 1947, 1942, and 1937. General seating is available for other Jubilee Alumni guests. Advance reservations required.

Children's activities
- Pre-school (ages 0-5) child care available during class reunions. Please pre-register. Information will be at the welcome center registration desk.
- Grades 1-5 meet in the Campus Center greeting hall for fun-filled youth activities organized and led by the EMU Student Education Association. These action-packed activities go far beyond child care. Registration includes free dinner and supplies.
Class reunions (beginning at 3:30 p.m.)
Reunions will be held for the classes of 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997 and 2002 at various locations on campus. Check at the welcome center in the University Commons for reunion locations. There is no charge to attend your reunion, but please register. If you wish to join your classmates for dinner following the reunion, please pre-register on the registration form.
