Men's basketball season highlights
Despite the most successful season in program history having become history months ago, the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team is still reaping a few of the benefits. No doubt aided by the past season, Coach Kirby Dean and the Runnin Royals will now add eight new freshmen. Registration is open for the Runnin' Royals Basketball Camp 2010. The camp is hosted by Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Kirby Dean in Yoder Arena on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg. George Johnson helped the Runnin Royals to an Elite Eight finish in their first ever trip the NCAA D-III National Championship
After the most successful season in program history, the Eastern Mennonite men's basketball team finished with their highest national ranking ever. The Runnin Royals lost in the Elite Eight during their first-ever trip to the D-III National Championship and were recognized by voters as fourth in the final D3hoops.com national poll. After being named First Team All-Region by D3hoops.com, junior Todd Phillips grabbed All-American status as well.
The awards continue to pile up for Eastern Mennonite junior Todd Phillips. Before Saturday's D-III National Championship game in Salem, Va., the men's basketball star was named a D3hoops.com First Team All-American.
