Eastern Mennonite women's basketball Head Coach Kevin Griffin has announced the dates on his Lady Royals Basketball Camp as Mon., July 12, through Fri., July 16. The camp is for ages 6-17 and will be at Yoder Arena on the campus of EMU in Harrisonburg. Ages 6-8 will be a four-day camp in the mornings only, while ages 9-17 will run for six hours and will be all five days. (Jun 10) [More] [Camp Brochure]
The NCAA announced today that the Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team has picked up a distinct honor. The Royals finished the 2009-10 season with the highest free throw percentage in Div. III, making 77.3% of their shots. EMU will receive a plaque from the NCAA to commemorate the mark. After Thursday's exciting upset of second-seeded Randolph-Macon, the seventh-seeded Eastern Mennonite women moved into the semifinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Saturday afternoon in Salem, Va. Virginia Wesleyan upset Roanoke in the first semifinal game, but the Royals faltered down the stretch and couldn't complete the upset sweep in a 62-47 loss to the third seed, Washington & Lee. Twice during the regular season Eastern Mennonite had matchup with Randolph-Macon. Twice the Royals had a win in their sites. And twice they lost to the Yellow Jackets. Thursday night in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals, the women finally broke through as they knocked off second-seeded R-MC, 69-64.
