The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its postseason women's soccer awards today, and two Lady Royals were honored. Forward Jessica Myers was named to the All-ODAC Honorable Mention squad while senior Mary Dunn was pegged as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year. (Nov 10) [More]
The Lady Royals did what they were supposed to, weathering a season full of injuries to make their way into the postseason. The tall task in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament, however, was speedy Virginia Wesleyan, the top seed with a 15-3 overall record. Back on October 3, the Lady Royals exploded for six goals in a 6-0 domination of Emory & Henry. Nearly a month later, that explosion put Eastern Mennonite in the playoffs. The women's soccer team ended the regular season with a record of 7-10 and 4-7 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference which tied them with the Wasps for 8th place. Facing a "win and you're in, lose and you're out" situation Tuesday at Hollins, the Lady Royals played like the weather. It was a rainy day, and the harder it rained the harder the women attacked.
