At one point last season, the Lady Royals held a 9-7 record and looked ready to make the step back into the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament. But a tough end to the year left the women's volleyball team 10-20 and out of the tourney based on a tie-breaker. Last year the Eastern Mennonite women's volleyball team finished tied for eighth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings, but missed the ODAC Tournament on a tie-breaker. Setter Christine Bottles was given All-ODAC Honorable Mention for her play in the 2009 season.
Setter Christine Bottles was named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Honorable Mention Team for women's volleyball. The senior, in her second season as the distributor of Eastern Mennonite's offense, tallied 7.41 assists per set, which was fourth-best in the conference. The Eastern Mennonite volleyball team wrapped up its season Saturday at a tri-match hosted by Messiah College. The Lady Royals took on Stevenson in their first contest of the day and, despite winning the first set, fell in four, 3-1. The loss extended the women's losing streak to nine matches.
