Community Process for a New Science Center!

Come share your dreams and shape the future! What do you think about building and space use on the EMU campus...? What principles, values, or ethics should guide the planning of the science center?

What:

Join in community-wide process to dream about the Suter Science Center renovation and addition, and how it fits in with our space use on campus. This is the time to give input that the architect team can consider as they design a building that is a sustainable environment, both inside and out. We'll discuss the big picture and provide space to think about details such as storm water management, indoor air quality and green roofs. Learn more about EMU's efforts to 'be green'...

When:

8:45 a.m. -12 p.m., Tuesday Jan. 22, 2008

Why:

A community process will enable the architects and planners to better reflect EMU values and hear the needs of the entire campus. A building that has the backing of the campus community will:

Who:

Faculty, staff, students, alumni, retirees, community members... All are encouraged to attend.Help shape what EMU anticipates will be a significant center of learning for our campus and larger community.

This semester a "green design" class will research all kinds of options for incorporation into the new facility. (Read "Integrating Green Building and Landscaping into the Curriculum," written by biology and chemistry faculty.)The class will be part of this meeting, research all semester and report findings at another community gathering in the spring. Be part of the process!
