Student Opportunities and Assistance
-
Matching Church Grants - Students who receive tuition assistance grants that originate from a congregation, a church conference, or a group of churches who have pooled resources for the purpose of providing tuition assistance grants are eligible to receive a matching grant.
All undergraduate students attending EMU for the first time in 2001-2002 or later may receive matching grants of up to $1,000 for the first $1000 received, and a 1:4 match for amounts over $1,000. Seminary students and Adult Degree Completion Program students are also eligible for these matching grant amounts (ADCP limited to $1,000).
All undergraduate students who entered EMU for the first time prior to 2001-02 may receive matching grants of up to $500 per academic year. March 1 is the "preferred response date" for churches to inform EMU of their intent to send funds for students. Forms are available to download. -
Matching Camp Grant - Students who receive grants or scholarships that originate from a congregation, a church conference, a group of churches, or a participating camp, who have pooled resources for the purpose of providing tuition assistance, are eligible to receive a matching grant. If more than one of these groups contributes to a student, EMU will consider the total amount as if it were one contribution, i.e. EMU will not match each amount separately.

Ministry Inquiry Program - This exciting opportunity of the Mennonite Church USA is designed for college-age young adults who wish to explore pastoral ministry. The program offers the opportunity to experience first hand what ministry is and to test a person's gifts and sense of call.
- Ask Your Congregation for Support - Congregation members want to stay connected with you during your studies. Share with them our suggestions of support for undergraduate and seminary students.
Undergraduate and seminary students may receive annual matching grants of up to $1,000 for the first $1,000 received (1:1 match) and an additional 1:4 match for any amount over $1,000. Seminary students must be admitted to the Seminary and be enrolled in at least 3 credits on campus. Graduate and Adult Degree Completion Program students are limited to $1,000 annually and graduate students must be enrolled at least half-time to receive a matching grant. Some additional restrictions may apply. Awarding of matching grants is contingent on availability of funds.
Financial support contributed by a camp must come from its operating budget and be a part of a uniform plan to benefit all workers going to college. Grants may not be given in lieu of wages.
March 1 is the “preferred response date” to inform EMU of intent to send funds for students. All students who are considering attendance at EMU should be included on the Church Grant Commitment Form. Forms are available to download.
