Lodging at EMU
EMU residence halls can accommodate up to 720 people. Hillside Suite, Northlawn (pictured right) and Parkwood
Apartments offer 350 beds in air-conditioned comfort.
EMU's rooms range from air-conditioned suites with semi-private baths to non-air-conditioned single or double rooms near centrally located toilet and showers. Linens and towels are provided.
Other Lodging Details:
One set of linens is provided per person (includes two flat sheets, one pillowcase, one bath towel, one washcloth, one bar of soap, one pillow, one blanket). Persons staying five or more days will be given two towels and washcloths. With the exception of the Guest House where beds are made, linens are delivered to the room and guests make their own beds. A sign will be posted in each room explaining check out procedures. PLEASE LEAVE PILLOWS, BLANKETS AND MATTRESS COVERS ON THE BEDS.
Each dorm has a telephone in the main lounge on the first floor and a hall phone on every floor. There are NO phones in the dorm rooms. Long distance calls can be made using a calling card with an 800 number. Under no circumstances should guests receive collect phone calls. A fine will be assessed to the conference group for infractions of this policy.
Air-conditioned dorms and Suites/Apartments
Hillside Suites, Northlawn, and Parkwood Apartments are air-conditioned. Northlawn has a combination of suites and rooms on the hall. The suites have either 2 double rooms with 2 twin beds each or 4 rooms with a single bed in each, except the suite on Northlawn 1st where there are 2 doubles and 2 singles with a total of 6 beds. The suites have a living room, kitchen and 2 private baths. The rooms on the hall have one or two single beds and guests use one of the two communal baths on the floor. There is also a lounge and laundry facility on each floor. There is an elevator which permits access to the residential floors..
Hillside Suites is made up entirely of suites containing either 2 double rooms or 4 single rooms all with single beds. There is a lounge on the first floor and an elevator which serves the 2nd and 3rd floors. There is a separate entrance to the ground level where there are 3 suites with 8 single rooms. On the first floor of Hillside, there are two wheelchair accessible apartments. Laundry facilities are available on each floor.
The exact number of Parkwood Apartments available will not be known until the first part of May. These air-conditioned, furnished apartments feature two bedrooms, shared bath, living/dining area and kitchen. The kitchen has appliances (no microwave) but is not furnished with utensils, dishes, etc.
The residence halls Roselawn, Oakwood, Maplewood and Elmwood are not air-conditioned. In general bedrooms have two twin beds each. Double rooms can be used as single rooms, if needed. Persons not able to negotiate steps should be assigned to the first floor of Elmwood, Oakwood or Maplewood. There are two wheelchair accessible rooms and a wheelchair accessible bathroom at the south end of the first floor of Elmwood. All residence halls have kitchen, lounge and laundry areas.
