At EMU, we are committed to "do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God." That is true on our campus in Virginia, in the local Harrisonburg community, and thousands of miles around the world.

Our cross-cultural program allows students to build relationships with people who are different from themselves. Our graduates learn to see the world through new eyes.

Love Mercy

EMU prepares students to offer "healing and hope in a diverse world." Through building cross-cultural awareness, students learn to see beauty where others may not, to feel compassion for people from all walks of life, and to offer a healing touch, hand of support and prayer of thanks.

Walk Humbly

People who have participated in an EMU cross-cultural experience often have a keen sense that we in North America don’t have the answers to all the world’s problems. Living and learning in a new culture often raises more questions than answers. That means our graduates are developing valuable critical thinking skills that will make them strong leaders in their communities and workplaces.
