"a great
experience"
The first spring break of my college experience has come and gone. It
was definitely one of the most relaxing breaks I've had in a long time,
and a quite welcome one, too.

After much deliberation as to where I should
spend my break, I suddenly found myself without any options except to stay
here in my cousin, Kiara's, suite. At the last minute though, my friend,
Jen, offered to give me a ride to Goshen, Ind., where my mom's side of the
family lives. Her mother had even called my family and arranged everything
for me! So I quickly packed Thursday night and we left Friday afternoon
for Indiana.
I had a great time seeing my cousins and my aunts and uncles
whom I don't often see because of the distance between us. I even got to
see my grandparents since my aunt had to leave for a conference for part
of the week, so they came our from Illinios and stayed with us. Besides
being able to see my family, I was also able to get together with some
friends who are going to Goshen College.

All in all, my first spring break was a great
experience.
Now that I'm back, though, it's difficult to get back into the swing of
things. This past week has not been without its share of exciting
experiences.
On Thursday, my roommate, Karra, and I drove to Lancaster,
Pa., to see the Supertones in concert as a part of their farewell tour. The
Supertones are Karra's favorite band, and I had a great time going with
her. It was also only the second time I have ever been to a concert, so
that definitely added to the event.
Then this past weekend, several
friends and I drove to Washington, D.C. It was a great time! One of my
friends, Sarah, has relatives that live in the city, so we stayed with
them.

mall in D.C. |
We got horribly lost trying to find their house, though, and didn't
end up getting there until about 1:30 in the morning on Saturday, but
I think all of us had fun just driving around D.C. at night and seeing
the sights.
We spent Saturday walking around the national mall and looking at
museums. We ended the day by eating in China Town, and took the metro back
to Sarah's aunt and uncle's house. The ride back to EMU on Sunday was much
less eventful, but we were all tired and eager to get back to school.
I am amazed at how quickly this semester has passed by. Because of all the
things I have been doing, I've almost been too busy to notice that we only
have five weeks! Where has my freshman year gone?
Hopefully, three more years of college will go by just as fast and be just
as memorable!
