Where has second semester gone? In light of my studies and extracurricular
activities, I did manage to get away for a weekend. I visited Ben
Beitzel's (my roommate) house in Springs, Pa. Such a small little
town just inside the PA state line, it represents the highest location
in PA. During the winter months, snow often coats the ground with
a sheet of whiteness.
Six of us ventured to Springs, Pa. on a Friday afternoon, immediately
after classes ended. Driving for approximately three hours, we arrived
at Ben's house, greeted by snow showers and twenty other people -
friends and family of the Beitzel's. It did not take long for us to
realize that visitors are not uncommon at the Beitzel household. People
come and go-CONSTANTLY-as they wish! After filling our stomachs and
several intense rounds of Mafia Friday evening, we watched The Recruit
into the wee hours of the morning.

All of us with our tubes!

Saturday brought more interesting experiences as all six of us piled
in a van and went to the WISP. This was the first time I have ever
been on any type of slope at any ski resort. After snow tubing for
two hours we headed back to Ben's house to enjoy a steak dinner and
then journeyed out to explore Springs, Pa. Over the weekend we also
celebrated Destiny's birthday with cake and balloons. We all enjoyed
the fun in wishing Destiny a happy 19th. What a relaxing weekend,
I did nothing but drive, eat, sleep, watch movies, and have fun. It
does not get much better than that.
Spring break is over, only six weeks of school left and off to Jamaica
on a cross-cultural I go! I am extremely excited as I prepare to take
three weeks out of my summer to perform service in Jamaica and receive
cross-cultural credit for this experience. Between cross-cultural
preparation, work, studying, dodge ball intramurals, church league
basketball, and SIFE (business club) I am predicting a quick wrap-up
to my freshman year of college. Hopefully next year you too will get
to participate in a wonderful experience at EMU!
