The major in professional
nursing, leading to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in nursing, involves
learning in the areas of nursing theory, case management, human dynamics, organizational
development, family and community health. This interdisciplinary program takes
a systems approach to the problems, principles and practices of today's complex
healthcare system, incorporating conceptual and theoretical knowledge.
Study in this program exposes you to:
- The importance of developing knowledge and skills necessary for new nurse roles in community-based environments as well as institutional settings with the advent of managed care and integrated delivery systems.
- The practical application of skills and theories in the classroom and through a field-based research project.
- The evaluation of issues and concepts central to the practice of professional nursing through the perspectives of historical, cultural, biblical and ethical standards.
If you have completed an accredited nursing diploma program/RN licensure, you may qualify to enroll. EMU at Lancaster's RN to BSN Adult Degree Completion Program is fully accredited, reasonably priced and accelerated. Dedicated program staff will help you combine stimulating courses, credit for your work experience and a project to finish what you started: your nursing degree! (Note: students in ADCP are eligible to apply for federal financial aid.)
Application Process
- Attend a meeting with the program representative, who will provide you with information about the program and application materials.
- Submit a completed application with $25 fee to Eastern Mennonite University through the Lancaster office.
- Have official transcripts sent from all institutions you have attended, no matter how long ago, to EMU at Lancaster (address below).
- Complete and submit a writing sample and autobiographical outline.
- Meet with the Assessment Counselor for an evaluation of your transcript(s) and autobiographical outline.
- Complete financial information and appropriate applications.
- Attend the convocation meeting of your cohort.
