Itinerary and goals for Honduras Trip Information on Honduras
Honduras Trip Goals, Leaders and Itinerary
Main Goal : LEAP365’s main goals are to provide our participants with significant:
Our trip to Honduras this year fulfills item “c” in our list of goals. Our goal, then, is to provide our LEAP365 participants of a significant cross-cultural experience where they learn about the values, history, social dynamics and spiritual influences that govern a culture that is different from theirs. This experience should make participants more aware of the assumptions of their own culture. Hopefuly, participants will learn to better appreciate their own cultural values as well as cherish and respect the cultural values of others.
In Honduras the LEAP365 participants will travel around the country to important cities such as Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, and Roatan ( Bay Islands of Honduras). In each city they will explore the local culture, and will meet with members of local congregations. They will also participate in a work project in La Ceiba.
Our cross-cultural leaders this year will be LEAP365 Director Marvin Lorenzana and wife Mariana. Marvin has an MDiv from EMS and is also Director of the Multicultural Services Office at EMU.
Marvin and Mariana Lorenzana “Mariana and I were born in Tegucigalpa, capital city of Honduras. In 1994 after two years of marriage, we decided to become missionaries to the third country in the world with most Hispanics after Mexico and Spain: the United States of America! In the USA, we have been Youth Pastors, Associate Pastors and Senior Pastors in different assignments.”
“We love our beautiful Honduras! We are trying to bring our kids, Pablo (11) and Alexa (8) at least once a year to meet their many relatives down there so that they stay connected to their Latin-American heritage. For us, it will be of great pleasure to lead a 2009 LEAP365 team thorough our lovely country. I can assure you that this will be a life changing experience for all participants as we will witness God at work among Christian leaders in a third world country”.
