Eastern Mennonite University
Main Floor -- Third Floor -- Return to Library Information

First Floor

Items in the main collection with call numbers in the 370s (education), 500s, 600s, 700s (sciences, technology, and the arts), and the Js (Juvenile collection) are shelved on this floor.

Library Technology Classroom -- This classroom is primarily for instructional use, but it is available as a student lab when it is not scheduled for classes. There is limited access after library hours.

Learning Resources ("LR") -- Located around to your right at the bottom of the main stairs, this area houses the library’s audiovisual media and equipment. The LR staff provides assistance and makes reservations for use of these resources. The Cue Room may be reserved for group audiovisual presentations. Students are encouraged to use the many services available here, such as laminating, passport photos, copying of audio and video tapes, and use of equipment.

Curriculum materials -- Student teachers use these resources to prepare for practice teaching assignments. Curriculum guides, textbooks, and support materials are shelved here. Pictures, maps, and posters are arranged in the file cabinets. Remember that additional materials useful for curriculum development can be found in other areas of the library; consult the library catalog for more ideas, such as videotapes, audio tapes, and other books.

Archives -- The Archives contain the historical records of EMU, EMHS, and the Virginia Mennonite Conference, as well as several collections of personal papers. Assistance is available by appointment.

Cue Room -- Just to the left of the main stairway and through the double doors, you will find an audiovisual classroom, used by student groups as well as classes. Contact the Learning Resources desk for reservation information.

Emergency Exits -- Three emergency exits are on the first (ground) floor: in the two outer corner stairwells, and in between the Cue Room and LR area.
