EMS offers a wide variety of educational resources for people at all levels of study. We also offer special programs like School for Leadership Training and the Middle East Cross-Cultural trip. Check out the variety of study options below.
BLESS- Biblical Lands Educational Seminars and Service-
The BLESS program is a unique and innovative graduate-level, missional education program combining experiential learning in the biblical lands with rigorous academic inquiry. This program is offered by EMS in cooperation with Mennonite mission agencies and is designed for enabling and equipping a new generation of emerging church leaders who have a passion for mission, cross-cultural skills, and a vision for the church in the future.
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)- CPE at Eastern Mennonite Seminary is a unique opportunity for theological students, clergy and laypersons to develop their ministry skills and leadership capacity. Students enrolled in CPE gain ministry experience through supervised ministry as a chaplain in a local hospital, or retirement community, or in a ministry role in a congregation
LEAP365 (Learning, Exploring and Participating)
- LEAP365 is a year-long mentoring program for high school youth. It provides and opportunity to discern vocational calling in a cross-cultural setting.
Middle East Cross-Cultural- The biennial Middle East Cross-Cultural gives students a change to walk the land the Jesus walked. Our study tour, "Places, People, and Prayers," offers you a rich and multi-faceted introduction to the land, which has been home--and holy--to Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike for thousands of years.
Preaching Institute- Since 1999 more than 150 persons have taken part in the basic Preaching Institute. Its primary goals are to: enable preachers to become more confident and effective, and to make congregations a place for genuine learning and growth.
School for Leadership Training (SLT)- SLT is a training session for church leaders that occurs in January. Each year, plenary sessions, workshops and worship focus on a new topic relevent to church leadership.
Study and Training for Effective Pastoral Ministry (STEP)- STEP is a part-time, three-year training course of study designed for pastoral leaders – or those exploring a call – who don’t have college or Bible school training. STEP is a fully accredited, hands-on, college-level curriculum that meets one Saturday a month.
Summer Institute for Spiritual Formation- Within an unhurried and spacious rhythm of worship, classroom and experiential learning, this summer program is a response to a need for spiritual formation, and renewing the soul of the church in our post-modern and anxious world.
