Distance Learning at EMS

Eastern Mennonite Seminary has offered online courses for over a decade in the areas of Anabaptist theology, church history, and the practice of ministry (pastoral care, missional church, and leadership). More than a dozen online courses are offered on a two-year cycle, with several course offerings each semester as well as during the summer.

We're also excited to offer the BLESS program, an innovative new blend of online and on-site learning for students interested in mission work or currently serving around the globe.

"The courses are applicable and flexible. It fits my schedule as a husband, father, public school teacher, pastor and seminary student." - Tom Albright, Pastor of Community Outreach, Whitehall Mennonite Church

Easy format, great courses

EMS' online courses are offered through the Blackboard course management system. (Other technical requirements are easy to meet.) You don't have to leave your home or community. Study at your convenience as you complete weekly units within a standard semester-long learning experience. Learn more about class structure...

Most online courses at EMS are taught by full-time faculty and will meet typical requirements of a theological education degree.

If you are interested in testing seminary studies, pursuing a theological degree program in the Anabaptist tradition, growing in your personal and faith journey, or developing your leadership skills further, then an online seminary course offered by EMS is for you. EMS' vibrant learning community will draw you in; an expert instructor will lead a dynamic and interactive online class akin to on-site studies at EMS' campus.
