a church vocations dinner for students
When: Monday, April 11, 2005 from
5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Where: Taste of Thai restaurant, 919 South High Street, Harrisonburg, Va.
Exploring a Call, a church vocations exploration and inquiry dinner, is for Eastern Mennonite University undergraduate students willing to give thought, prayer and consideration to God’s call to pastoral ministry, church leadership or seminary study. Dinner will be catered by Taste of Thai restaurant
and will include appetizers, soup and an array of Asian entrees.
Local pastors, professors and resident directors have been asked to consider students that hold promise for pastoral ministry, church leadership or seminary study at the present time or after some maturation and training. They have been asked to prayerfully consider and nominate students to invite to this banquet. Twenty-five students will be invited to attend this evening of dining, fellowship and listening to stories of call.
The following people will answer questions and share how they were called to ministry, seminary, missions and other church vocations.
- Mike Clemmer, graduating seminary student
- Shauna Payne, seminary student, pastor
- Anil Solanki, professor, pastor, Bible translator
- Ervin Stutzman, dean of Eastern Mennonite Seminary
Church Vocation Banquets is a key component of the "Culture of Call" Lilly Endowment, Inc. grant to Eastern Mennonite University and Seminary. "Culture of Call" relates with Mennonite congregations to create a Culture of Call by recognizing gifted persons who may be called to pastoral ministry. For a number of years, "Culture of Call" has been working primarily with area Mennonite conferences to support and equip congregations to recognize and call out persons with ministry potential.
