Social Work Program Reference Form

The EMU Social Work program is a professional program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). After declaring the major and taking introductory courses, students must make formal application for acceptance into the program.
As part of this process, students request three references from persons who can attest to the student’s character, integrity, and aptitude for becoming a caring professional social worker.
Social Work Program candidates need to be able to perform with personal integrity, show compassion for others, and meet academic standards in writing and critical thinking. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate personal values and attitudes compatible with professional social work values which include:

  • service
  • social justice
  • dignity and worth of persons
  • importance of human relationships
  • integrity
  • competence in service
