Celebration

Sunday @ 9:00 p.m. in Martin Chapel

Psalm 27:4 says One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life...
Celebration's purpose is to enable persons to passionately seek the Lord through worship and intercession as a community of believers. As Celebration draws together the body of Christ in worship, we call persons to a more intimate relationship with Christ and encourage Christian fellowship.

Celebration is a weekly gathering of students intent on seeking the Lord. Started about ten years ago, this student organization has grown to attract an average weekly crowd of 100 persons. It's not only for EMU students; a number of graduates, JMU students, and community members often participate.

The group meets most Sunday evenings at 9:00 p.m.in Martin Chapel of the Seminary Building. A worship team of 4-6 persons leads an hour of mostly contemporary worship music, though hymns or international songs are sometimes included. Worship times are often focused around a piece of scripture or theme, and students are occasionally invited to participate as well by sharing about their own lives.

There is a strong sense of community as Celebration gathers. Before and after the service many students give hugs as they see their friends and catch up with those they may not have seen throughout the week. It's a great way to close the weekend and kick-off each school week (as well as procrastinate homework.) Many leave feeling energized and ready to face the challenges of the week ahead.
