“Some college students would give their eye-teeth for what we have here… caving, rock-climbing, hiking, mountain-biking, canoeing and kayaking…so much!”
-Lester Zook, EMU professor and faculty advisor to EMU Explore
EMU Explore
If you’re interested in this group, get your hiking boots on and go meet club founder and current senior Patricia Pegram. When she transferred to EMU in 2009 she was looking for some regular friends who wanted to spend the weekends hiking, hanging out, laughing, and just enjoying the Shenandoah Valley. It didn’t take long for EMU Explore to form.
The group meets weekly during the semester for planned hikes nearby. After all, 30 minutes east of campus is Shenandoah National Park and 30 minutes west are two national forests!
Faculty advisor
Lester Zook, professor and Lester Zook chair, is faculty advisor for EMU Explore. With decades of climbing, hiking, and wilderness experience under his belt, Zook is famous around the valley.
JMU graduate student Rachel Finley serves as a peer advisor to the group.
