Multicultural Services

A place that values difference

At EMU, a core value is cross-cultural understanding. Our tight-knit campus community welcomes diversity and recognizes the value of different ethnic backgrounds.

The Multicultural Services office provides leadership and learning opportunities for students of diverse backgrounds. We also develop opportunities and programs for the broader campus that highlight diversity, stimulate dialogue and build relationships.

We want the entire community to better understand and appreciate each person’s culture, traditions and heritage.

What we offer

Our office offers AHANA (Americans of African, Hispanic, Asian and Native American descent) students resources, activities and opportunities that celebrate their heritage and connect them with the larger campus community.

Program assistants work hard to bring events to the school and new life to the program.

Organizations and clubs

Some organizations of particular interest include Black Student Union, Latino Student Alliance (LSA), Gospel Choir, and Alpha Omega Steppers.

Programs and celebrations

Annual celebrations include Latino Heritage Month, Horror House of Oppression, Dialogue on Race and Diversity Week, Martin Luther King Day of Serving and Learning, and Black History Month.

Through our office’s connection with local resources and mentoring agencies, AHANA students will be empowered to succeed academically, socially and spiritually.
