Degree Requirements Checklist for Seniors
As indicated on your rating sheet, it is your responsibility to be sure you meet all the curriculum requirements needed for your degree. From the University Registrar's Office, we suggest the following approach for you to be sure you will have all your degree requirements completed:
1.) Begin with the rating sheet you received most recently. If you have taken any courses elsewhere, check to be sure they are listed on the rating sheet. If they are missing, contact your previous school immediately to request a transcript to be sent to the EMU Registrar's Office.
2.) If the majors and minors listed on your rating sheet are not the programs you plan to complete, complete a "Major/Minor Change Form" (available at the Registrar's Office) to make the changes.
3.) Go over your rating sheet course by course to identify all requirements not yet satisfied. For each remaining requirement, mark the semester you will complete the requirement. Using the Schedule of Course Offerings, be sure the courses you need are offered according to a workable time schedule.
4.) Print an unofficial copy of your transcript from the Campus Web to see the official record of the number of credits you have completed and your grade point average. If you see a discrepancy between the transcript and your rating sheet in the number of credits completed, the transcript will be considered authoritative. Notify the Registrar's Office of any such discrepancy.
5.) Here is a checklist of specific items to watch for. Be sure:
_____ you will have earned at least 128 semester hours (64 hours for two-year programs).
_____ your GPA will be at least 2.00 overall and in each major. Some departments
have higher
required averages-see your advisor if you have questions.
_____ you bring to the Registrar's Office before the semester ends a written approval from your advisor for any substitution in your major/minor requirements.
_____ you will have completed nine semester hours of cross-cultural experience/courses.
6.) If you are repeating a course to raise your GPA, be aware that repeating
a course for which you earlier received a grade of "D" will not increase
your total hours earned toward graduation.
