Financial Aid for Transfer Students

Students who qualify for an academic scholarship will be notified with their admissions decision letter. Students must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA at EMU to continue receiving the scholarship. Lost scholarships may not be regained. Academic scholarships are limited to 9 semesters of full-time career enrollment at EMU and at any prior higher education institutions. Eligibility:

• Awarded to Virginia residents regardless of financial need
• A VTAG application must be filed by July 31. Students who remain continuously enrolled full-time are not required to re-apply each year.
• Students who do not stay continuously enrolled may need to reapply.

Award:

The amount is determined annually by the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia. In 2023-24 students received $5,000.

Eligibility:

• A member of phi Theta kappa
•  Transferring to EMU with at least a 3.5 GPA
• Transferring to EMU directly from a two-year college

Award:

• The award is $2,000 per year up to four years
• Eligible students must submit a copy of their proof of membership to admiss@emu.edu to quality.

• Complete the FASFA
• Undergraduate in-state student (first time entering freshman no earlier than fall 2007)
• Must be a Virginia domiciled resident
• Have received an associate degree from a Virginia two-year institution
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 for the associate degree
• Enroll full-time into a Virginia four-year University by the fall or spring immediately following completion of associate degree
• Have financial need, defined as a federally calculated EFC of 12,000 or less

Award:

The award is up to $1,000 for a standard award year
