Attention 2008 Graduates (and August/December 2007): Complete this year's placement report!
Placement Rate*
How do graduates fare after leaving EMU? Our three-year average placement rate of graduates is 99%, with a whopping 90% of graduates employed within their own field of study within one year of graduation! In 2007, 100% of graduates were placed within that time. And, during the past five years 95% of EMU education grads (some years, more) were employed upon graduation!
EMU's High Graduation Rate
When it comes to the numbers of success, EMU's six-year graduation rate (a common benchmark for measuring the success of students) is much higher than that of other private colleges in the southeast. 71% of EMU first-year students graduate within six years; the national average graduation rate is 53% and the Virignia state average is 56.7. The corresponding rate among private colleges in the southeast was 49% in 2007.*
In 2009 EMU tied with two other schools for fifth place in the regional "very competitive" category in a study of graduation rates nationwide by the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research.**
*Placement and graduation rates, taken from the EMU Factbook, represent 2005-2007 and were updated in March 2009.
**According to the Council of Independent Colleges' report of member
institution graduation rates as collected by the National Center for
Education Statistics.
