Rec Sports and Intramurals

Rec sports, or intramurals, are a HUGE part of life on campus at EMU. Our recreation sports director is dedicated to providing a modern program of sports for students and faculty, and participants enjoy positive recreational activities that appeal to a wide variety of people.

Rec sports allow students to relax, disconnect from strenuous academic schedules, and develop skills that can be used after their university experience. They also build a sense of teamwork while making new friends and establishing social contacts.

Will you accept a Royal Challenge this fall? Join a training group to shoot for a 5k, 10k, or half marathon on campus in early November. More information can be found under intramural sign-ups.

What can you do?

Come join us in the game room, on an intramural sports team, working out or taking a class in the Fitness Center, or making it to the top of the rock climbing wall!

Open recreation and general use of the gymnasium is open to EMU Students, faculty, staff, their dependents, and fitness center members. (Dependents under the age of 14 must be directly supervised by their parent/legal guardian.)

Be an official! Our department recruits officials to supervise the various sports. Officials must attend training sessions and the captains’ meeting for the sports they wish to officiate. You do not have to be work-study eligible.
